V8 Circus: Hot American Rides at the US-Car Meeting 2024 in Islikon

On August 31st, it was that time again. In Islikon, in the canton of Thurgau, the two-day event “StreetBilly’s V8 Circus 2024” took place, attracting many fans of these cars, as well as people who enjoy and live the US lifestyle. Dozens of US cars, both old-timers and young-timers, were on display. Streetwheelz1 was there to capture the event.

Islikon is a tranquil village in the district of Frauenfeld (canton of Thurgau) with a population of around 1,400 inhabitants. Large agricultural areas and country roads characterize the village. But at StreetBilly’s V8 Circus 2024, the scene was anything but tranquil. The excitement wasn’t limited to the cars; the bustling festival grounds also offered much to see and do. The site not only provided pleasant shade from the scorching sun but also offered food, drinks, and entertainment. In addition to a DJ, singer Mary B. Good performed, bringing the crowd to life with her Rockabilly and Americana-Pop compositions.

The variety of vehicles at the US-Car Meeting was diverse and fascinating for car enthusiasts. The event showcased almost all the key eras of American automotive history, from the opulent Post-War Classics to the Muscle Car era of the Modern Classics, all the way to the technically advanced Youngtimers. Definitely a magnet for a broad audience, appealing to both old-timer lovers and fans of more modern sports cars. Unfortunately, not all the cars that gathered at this event can be mentioned here in detail, but our video showcases the models beautifully.

A Cross-Section of Car Eras

StreetBilly’s V8 Circus 2024 offered a broad spectrum of models. Most of the vehicles came from the Modern Classics era (1960-1979), a golden age of Muscle Cars known for their powerful engines, aggressive designs, and the spirit of freedom and the American dream. The Post-War Classics era (1946-1960) was also well-represented. These vehicles reflect the post-World War II period when American cars became bigger, more luxurious, and more powerful. The style of this era, especially the prominent tailfins and chrome, is particularly beloved by car enthusiasts. Youngtimer fans (1980-1999) were not left out either.

A Chevrolet Impala from the late 50s and early 60s was also present. It is an example of the opulent car design of that era. With its striking tailfins and wide, low profile, the Impala is a symbol of American automotive style. The V8 engine and luxurious interior make it a popular model among collectors.

One of streetwheelz1’s Favorites: A Pontiac (Photo: streetwheelz1)

Of course, models like several Pontiac Firebirds couldn’t be missing. The Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is especially known for its 70s version, made famous by movies like “Smokey and the Bandit.” But since the TV series “Knight Rider,” the car has achieved absolute cult status. With its V8 engine and aggressive styling elements, it is a true Muscle Car and a cult object for many US-Car fans.

In a Class of Its Own: Shelby Cobra (Photo: streetwheelz1)

An absolute highlight was definitely a Shelby Cobra, which made its presence known with its powerful sound while parking. This is one of the most legendary vehicles in motorsport, known for its light weight and immense power. The Cobra, often equipped with a 427 V8 engine, is a beast both on the road and on the track. Due to its limited production, it is now an extremely valuable collector’s item.

Unmissable: Excalibur Roadster (Photo: streetwheelz1)

Another US classic car that couldn’t be overlooked was the Excalibur Roadster. This retro-classic, produced in the 60s and heavily inspired by the luxury cars of the 1920s, is a popular vehicle for car shows and collections, with its eye-catching body and numerous chrome details.

Hard to Miss: Dodge Viper (Photo: streetwheelz1)

Another car that caught everyone’s eye, not just because of its bright yellow color, was the Dodge Viper. This high-performance sports car was introduced in the 90s. With its 8.0-liter V10 engine and brutal design, it is one of the most aggressive American cars ever built. The yellow variant was particularly striking and made the car a real head-turner.

Gorgeous Evening Atmosphere (Photo: streetwheelz1)

The cars offered a stunning sight even in the early evening. Especially the cars parked in front of a fading, but still somehow beautiful, sunflower field benefited from the golden hour’s ambiance. A perfect conclusion to this special event.
